Thunderhill Raceway Park, May 12-13, 2012 & Miller Motorsports Park May 19-20, 2012
Marcel Irnie’s preparations for the 2012 Canadian Superbike Championships took another turn into the United States in May. This time he was traveling further than the usual regional races in Washington and Oregon. In his effort to build speed and become battle-hardy, Irnie ventured to Northern California for an American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM) event at Thunder Hill Raceway Park near Willows, California. Followed by the WERA West Nationals event at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. The notoriously fast competition and technical race courses would be very helpful in advancing his 2012 program.

OMRRA Round 1, Portland International Raceway, April 21-22, 2012

Kelowna BC’s Marcel Irnie journeyed to Portland, Oregon to participate in another West Coast race as he prepares for the 2012 Canadian Superbike Championships. The tough competition and early season start are vital to Irnie’s efforts to ready himself for what will be the toughest season of his career. For this round, Irnie brought both his trusty Dave Alexander-prepared 2005 Kawasaki zx6rr and his awe-inspiring 2012 AMSOIL Bentley Motorrad BMW S1000RR.

WMRRA Round 1, Pacific Raceways, Mar. 30-Apr. 1, 2012

Marcel Irnie’s race program held many changes for 2012 and the Kelowna BC native hopes that this will be a watershed season for his racing career. The first major change was the acquisition of a 2012 BMW S1000RR. As Irnie has battled with under-powered, dated machinery throughout his career, having a motorcycle that possess elite horsepower and handling would be a welcome change. Irnie will race the "AMSOIL T1000 Uber-bike" in the complete Canadian Superbike Championship, starting in June.

Irnie kicked off what will be a long campaign at the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association’s opening round at Pacific Raceways. Despite weather forecasts of perpetual rain, Irnie was anxious to get race hours in and use this opportunity to put the BMW through its paces.

OMRRA Round 7, October 8-9, 2011, Portland International Raceway, Portland OR.

The 2011 season for Irnie Racing was one wrought with ups, downs and everything in between. For most of the season Marcel Irnie played “catch-up”, trying to stay with the competition on woefully underpowered motorcycles. Irnie achieved several hard-earned top five finishes on machinery that had no business being up front. The highlight of the season was most certainly the two first pro victories of his career. With a tough season almost in the books, Irnie looked to close out the season in Portland with a good result and get on with the business of reloading for 2012.

WMRRA Round 7, Pacific Raceway, September 10-11, 2011

Marcel Irnie’s 2011 race season has been tumultuous to say the least. He has had the highs of his first professional victory and the lows of many mechanical gremlins.  There has been much uncertainty regarding equipment and where his future lies in the sport.  Over the course of this season, Irnie has raced on no less than five different motorcycles; with only one of them being fully competitive. The uncertainty followed Irnie to Washington State as he opted to take part in this round using teammate Aaron Holmberg’s Suzuki GSXR 750 for the weekend.
